Block Prints II |
I often carve my blocks on site, completing the work in my home studio with the support of photos and sketches made while observing a bird. Most of my work features a bird and a place that I have experienced. The Black Oystercatchers pause on the rocky shore of Second Beach by LaPush, home of the Quileute Tribe. The Osprey perches on a limb of a ponderosa pine feeding on a fish captured from the waters of the Chewuch River. The Great Blue Heron roosts along the shore of Greenlake at twilight. The Pileated Woodpeckers were raising their young, searching for grubs in the pine near our campsite. Respite and Visitation celebrate a sighting of twelve young Common Mergansers fishing and resting along the Chewuch.
